On Monday, a former Nebraska State Patrol trooper was given a lengthy prison sentence for committing first-degree sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl in Bellevue.
Brandon Dolezal, 25, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison in Sarpy County District Court. The sentence, which is halved according to state sentencing guidelines, means Dolezal will serve 10 years before he is eligible for parole and 20 before he is released.

Bonnie Moore, chief deputy for the Sarpy County Attorney, praised the victim for coming forward and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office for their investigation. Moore referred to Dolezal as a predator and stated that his sentence is indicative of his behavior pattern and likelihood to reoffend.
Dolezal, who was fired in March of 2021, is also awaiting trial in Douglas County District Court on six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. Furthermore, he will be sentenced in Scotts Bluff County next month, where he was found guilty of four counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of child enticement.
Last November, Omaha police officers visited Skutt Catholic High School in response to a report of a missing 15-year-old girl. The officers were informed that the girl had left the area with a man identified as Dolezal after getting into his pickup truck. The pickup later returned to the school parking lot, and a school administrator prevented Dolezal from leaving until the police arrived.
Initially, Dolezal claimed to be an 18-year-old senior at Millard West High School, as per a police report. The girl informed the police that Dolezal sexually assaulted her in the pickup and that they had been communicating through Snapchat. She also revealed that Dolezal knew she was only 15 years old. Dolezal admitted to talking with the girl via Snapchat and picking her up from Skutt High School when questioned by the police.
