Shirley Wilson, 87, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, July 21, 2023, at her home in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at 10:30 AM, at Word of Life Church in Columbus with Rev. Mariano Menendez officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, July 27 at 2:00 PM, Mountain Time. Memorials are suggested to those of family or donor’s choice.
Shirley Ann was born December 28, 1935, in Trimble, Tennessee, to M.L. and Roberta “Robbie” (Glidewell) Frye. She attended Trimble Elementary School, and graduated from Yorkville High School, Yorkville, Tennessee. Shirley went on to attend Washington University. On February 29, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage to Fred Rains in Valley Park, Missouri. The couple lived in various places around the United States, but made Denver, Colorado, their home for 20 years. Fred passed away on September 12, 1995, and Shirley later moved to York, Nebraska, to be close to a daughter. On August 17, 2013, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert Wilson. They made Columbus their home where Shirley has lived since.
Shirley worked as a secretary in a hospital in Colorado, as well as a manager of a floral shop in Colorado. She loved to cook and entertain her friends and family.
