Steven Brooks, 75, of Columbus, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 A.M Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service is Tuesday, August 1st, at 7:00 P.M. at McKown Funeral Home. Military Honors will be held at the Church.
Steven was born April 13, 1948 in Los Angeles, California to Paul L. and Ellen (Mullen) Brooks. He grew up and received his education from Dorsey High School in California. He went on to attend California State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. In 1971 he was drafted into the US. Army where he served in the Republic of Vietnam until April 1972. He went on to serve in the US Air Force Reserves from 1975-1985, where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was united in marriage on October 18, 1974 to Peggy Jean Sullivan in Glendale, California.
He spent his working years in law enforcement serving as Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County, California and Kittitas County, Washington. Following retirement from law enforcement he served in counterintelligence for the Department of Energy at numerous sites throughout the United States, before assuming responsibility for the NPPD Corporate Security Department in Columbus. Steven also worked many years at ADM. He enjoyed woodworking, making pens, and spending time with family.
Steven is survived by: Wife- Peggy Jean Brooks Son- Paul E. (Danielle) Brooks Son- Timothy Matthieson (Kyra Yvonne) Brooks Four granddaughters
